Zacapa XO is an ultra-premium rum containing a blend of rums aged between 6 and 25 years old, with an extra ageing stage in French oak barrels that previously held cognac to reveal more dark cherry and spicy characteristics. Zacapa is made from only the sweetest first crush virgin sugar cane honey, rather than molasses, and is aged in a series of casks that previously held American Whiskies, Oloroso Sherry, Pedro Ximenez wines and cognac in a unique process called the Sistema Solera.
