Chronology
Nate Busko has spent 12 of his 17 years running from his past. Fed up with being bounced from foster home to foster home, he now lives in his car, eats corn husks, and uses track practice as a shower. By nightfall, he couldn’t be more different from the confident, outgoing persona at school. Only fragments of traumatic memories from his past haunt him. Enter Stan Deen, a popular high school drama teacher dealing with his own problems. He sees Nate’s latent talent and needs nurturing and guidance where other teachers don’t, and he wants to help. But in a shocking turn of events, Nate is arrested in the middle of school and led away in handcuffs. Stan follows Nate to the police station and not only arranges bail, but agrees to take Nate into his own home, despite the raised eyebrows of his fellow teachers. Stan is willing to do anything to help his troubled student. But the question is, can you really help someone if you’re not willing to help yourself?
